last saturday, feb 16, i went to the bridal fair at the sm megamall.
i went there alone.
beat that!
it was around 1:30pm when i left the office. it was one out-of-the-blue decision. since i had nowhere to go that afternoon (i was supposed to have my monthly massage but i got my period friday evening, hmpf), i opted to go and see the fair the second time. the first one was last year before bedan mare, ara, got married.
i got there at 2pm. i paid the P35 entrance fee since i did not pre-register for the fair. i had to write in the registration form whether i am there in preparation for a wedding or a debut, and when will it be. of course, i cannot pass as a 17-year old debutant-to-be, so, i checked the box for the "wedding" category. i wrote "december 2008" as the planned date.
i hopped from one corner to another. this fair was far better than the first which i went to. super dami ng vendors/suppliers! from wedding gowns, hair and make-up, cakes, restaurants, caterers, jewellers to souvenir vendors and wedding coordinators. syempre, i did not waste the opportunity to devour freebies served - free samplings of cakes and fondue. sayang, i forgot na dumaan sa free coffee (courtesy of nescafe), hehehe.
i even saw ate kathy, an ate "children of mary" back in liceo. wedding/events coordinator na pala sya ngayon, aside from the many other "rakets" she has. of course, the moment i saw her i had to explain why i was there (i cannot tell her that i only wanted to explore the possibility of me becoming an events coordinator in the future), since she may assume that i am about to tie the knot. i had to tell her a half-truth that i was there to scour vendors for ate eloi (another ate "children of mary") who is about to get married on december this year. i also saw another fellow "children of mary", cristina escudero, not personally though, but on the list i also signed up (hehe). i saw her last week at the ilustrado restaurant (intramuros) where the dinner reception for ara and olan's wedding was held. she also had the place reserved. wow no, all my fellow-com's tying the knot na! hehehe... (ayan kasi, nung highschool ako una-slash-atat na nag-bf, ako tuloy nahuli na sa byahe ngayon, hahaha!) i also saw a bedan batchmate which compelled me to leave the premises asap (i was overstaying na din naman, hahaha).
many of the vendors of course asked me when my wedding will be held (in-assume nila wedding, bakit di kaya debut??? --- kasi 10 years ago na to? hahaha!). i was CONSTRAINED, FORCED, OBLIGED, COMPELLED, to say that --- i am getting married on december 14, 2008 at manila cathedral! december 14 is mom and dad's wedding anniv, while manila cathedral is where ate eloi will say 'i do'. hehehe... now they are sending me emails!!! hahaha! sorry!
while i was walking my way to the bus stop from the mega trade hall, i cannot help but feel that i am missing a lot on life, that i also wanted to get married, and that i do not want to be a mere witness but "the one" who got the chance to say her vows herself. i also realized that marrying on the same date that my mom and dad did is perfect, and one esplanade is not a bad place to hold the reception. problem is, i want the wedding at the chapel on the hill in batangas, hehehe.
beda's abbey church is an option too, but since their authority to conduct marital rites has been revoked, di na pde. di bale, baka naman when my time comes, IF MY TIME COMES, beda can hold marriages na. hehehe. asa.
i have witnessed a lot of weddings, specially recently, with my friends' "paglalagay sa tahimik", and i cannot help but sigh - and wish, that i'd have that chance to say 'i do'.
